Music Video Filming

Before we did our music we had to plan.We decided that we’d create a storyboard for our music video. This is so we can properly plan listing what will happen in each scene and what changes will be made during editing. We made our video a minute and ten seconds long with little editing but more meaning to what’s happening in the background. Our song was a sad ballet so our goal was to tell a story that creates emotion in the watcher. We used sad imagery regarding a boy and a dog in order to create this effect. With our planning we thought of everything with their being subtle meanings in each thing that happens. With the song being about neglecting we decided to go with lots of scenes that regarded the boy slowly neglecting the dog with the dog running way which goes perfectly with the music. With all our planning finally done we were able to record.
Unfortunately with recording I couldn’t attend. We had to record over the weekend and my mom was sick. I attempted to contact my other family members but no one answered. This left it all up to my teammates. From what they told me they first were able to do the first scenes pretty easily but the camera died so they decided to just hangout for the time being. After that they had a smooth recording with them finishing all the scenes. I’m sure it was hard for them to work with dog but I’m genuinely happy that they were able to properly execute the script. With our video done all that was left was to dump it and plan our editing.
When we first arrived at school my teammate contacted me and we went to the classroom. While there we dumped our footage onto our computer. We also decided that while where there we could turn in the camera and tripod. We decided to dump on google drive since we could access our footage on any computer. This will make it so no matter what happens to the computer we can easily re download the footage onto another basically creating a safety pro caution in case anything happens. Dumping took some time so while my teammate did that I turned in my Camera and tripod and waited for the dumping to finish. Our dumping was finished and now we can finally edit tommorow.

Planning for Music Video

Today November 18th we started planning for our music video. We've recently researched our genre and picked our song. Now all we have to do is plan before we commence recording for our music video. First we needed to think of a location we decided that we would make our music video about an neglected dog so we decided to have it take place at my friends Jake's house. We chose this location due to Jake having two dogs this is perfect since our idea for our video involves dog. On top of that our location wont have to be changed since we all can come over for the weekend. Plus we don't have to deal with rain or any problems with this location. Next to discuss is our health and safety in Jake's house we have a med-kit that will used if anything was to go wrong and we will have an adult at home in case of emergency. Next is props which frankly we aren't using to many all were using is fake posters, dog treats, and special lighting nothing to much. We don't require to many props since are idea isn't to complicated and mainly revolves around the actors. Next matter at hand was our costumes we decided that we would have the main character wear normal clothing. This is so we can have the clothing change to show different days while the pet is neglected. Last is our schedule with our due date being December 19th we have a lot of time. We will film November 23rd and 24th during the weekend. We could also film at school during the week. with us getting it done faster we will have a lot of time to edit and perfect our video. We also chose the 23rd since and 24th since it was a time that we could all come to record. Also we've decided what the jobs will be well have a person record, a person be the actor ,a person work with the dogs ,and a person editing. since we have everything planned this project will be easy.

Music video introducttion

Today we start a new project a music video with us finally finishing our commercial we could move on to bigger and better things. before I talk about the video lemme give you run down on how our last project went.On October 12th we finished are commercial project. The project went swell we were able to easily do everything. The only problem we had in our group was editing and exporting. We had a lot of arguments about the editing process and when we attempted to export our video the computer didn't allow us. But now we've moved on though our group has slightly changed our music will go great with want we want. Our group decided for our do a music video we'd chose the song Gary Come Home by Sponge bob. We'd probably use a lot of shadows since this song is a sad song. We need everything to be dark and moody. We would also probably not need to do much editing since all we would really need to do is add text music and shadows/filters.
Since we chose a sad song like Gary Come Home we had to learn more about this type of genre. I will now give you a rundown of what we learned during our research. The first thing we wanted to learn about is what our genre contains. Our song is considered to be a sad ballad. Sad songs usually are pretty sad and relate to the reader or makes the reader sympathize with the main protagonist of the song. While ballads usually contain some type of story whether sad happy or adventurous. Now that you understand what the genre is about ill go over the song. Gary Come Home was a song sung by our lovely sponge Sponge bob in Season 4 Episode 3 of Spongebob Squarepants. Released on November 11, 2005 it contains a story of how Spongebob neglected his pet snail causing his snail to run away. Spongebob devastated at his snail disappearances starts looking for his snail he finds Gary and reunites him the episode ends and Gary is finally payed attention to.
Now to go over the mis en scene and camera angles. Since our song is a sad ballad I will now go over what this genre of music contains. (C) Costumes for costumes being a sad ballad the main character can where anything as long as its serious or normal looking. (L) Lighting The lighting is usually dark and moody. (A) Actors The actors can be whatever as long as it is relevant to the story for example if the song is about a child being neglected it would footage of a child being neglected by a father. (M) Makeup For makeup a variety can be used for example fake tears, or messy makeup it really depends on what the song is talking about. (P) Props Props for this genre usually are relevant to the subject for example in a music video about a kid who lives a bad life they could show a kid losing a ball or the kid getting hit by an object it truly depends on the subject being covered within the song. (S) The setting is usually dark and moody just like the lighting for example a song about a neglected child would contain a house shrouded in darkness representing how the house to the child is somewhere dark a place he do'sent want to go. What we learned is that this genre and the things in are widely dependent on whats happening but usually make a dark mood.

Editing the Commercial

On November 5th and 7th we edited our commercial. On the first day for editing we had to firstly get all our footage from google drive onto pinnacle studios. So we downloaded all the footage and then imported it onto our computer. By the time I arrived to class we had already selected a computer and begun to upload our footage to Pinnacle Studios. The process was slow with our computer taking quite a while to log on and on top of that the files taking a long time to download and render. When the videos were done downloading and were on Pinnacle Studios our editing process begun. The first plan of action was to decide which scenes we should use we went over our scenes and handpicked which ones would look best. This process took quite sometime since we had to sit their and review which scenes would be best for our group.
Now that we have our videos on our timelines we started cutting them and removing our unnecessary scenes. This was to save as much time as we could with the commercial only being allowed to be 30 seconds long. Afterwards we decided to add some effects on thee first scene. We put a shadow on the first scene making it seem intense and removed all sound from the video except a piece at the end for effect. Then we made some clips in the middle slower since they looked better played in slow motion. We lastly added a fade in on the beginning and fade out near the end into a Gatorade logo. This as all we did for our first day. This made it a lot easier for the next day since it was a PSD (Professional Study Day). These days are three hours shorter then our other days making our classes even shorter. Doing all this work made it so we could easily edit a couple of things and be done.
November 7th was our second day of editing and was a PSD. With our limited amount of time all we had to do was put in the music and add the Gatorade logo at the end. Near the beginning it was pretty peaceful with our wok going well until we ran into some problems. Our first problem was the music it made the video look dumb with some intense battle music rather then a workout song. My teammate and I said it would look better if  the music was eye of the tiger since it would suit what was going on in the background. The music that was there didn't even match up well with the events.
We argued back and forward but our stubborn teammates where to lazy for change. so I just gave up arguing it was useless trying. Now with the music done all we had to do was put on the Gatorade Logo. This became hard since we had added text and effects and also kept the sound of the last scene taking up all the tracks. We couldn't make the video longer with it being exactly 30 seconds so we had to leave it be. Last we had to export which created multiple problems. During exporting our video the computers weren't working properly and didn't allow us to export our video. We ended up not exporting our video and just asking the teacher to extend the time n which they graciously accepted.
