Editing Preparation Blog

Today we were unable to edit. This was due to computer 1-12 not having Pinnacle Studios. And with the rest of the computers not working due to them not being able to connect to internet there was no chance. All we could do was plan how we could edit. First we had to move all our footage to google drive. My tech savvy teammate Kyle W did the honors of that. While he did that we reviewed all of our footage checking if it was good enough. We decided not to re record more takes in order to make our footage better since we didn't have our costumes. On top of this we had a lot of decent scenes which could easily be edited to make better. While reviewing all of these we planned how to properly edit our videos.
We first came across many shots that went on for too long. for these shots we planned on cutting parts of the video making it shorter. This is so the video doesn't catch un-important parts of the video. For example in our racing scene we had footage of all of us jumping up and down at the end this was because we were happy we finished recording. We have to remove this since it isn't relevant to what occurred but we may keep it if its a nice touch. We decided that this action would be good to take on a lot of videos with excess footage. We also thought about how our video looks. For example we thought about adding shaders and filters in order to make the current events seem serious. This will allow our commercial to feel like a true Gatorade commercial. I say this since Gatorade uses an excessive amount of shaders. We couldn't really think of anything else so this is where we ended.
For the rest of the class my colleagues and I started writing our blogs. This blog in fact we each had difficulty on how to write 3 paragraphs with 10 sentences each about doing barely anything. It was actually incredibly hard to think about these topics. But in the end I was able to finish. After finishing me and my classmates prepared to leave with it being late. We played a couple games on the switch. And made jokes the entire time. Though this class was fun it was also hard. I guess handwork pays off. Next class I have is Euro. And this all I did October 24th 2019. Have a nice day I know I will.

Commercial Recording Day

On October 24th we recorded our Gatorade commercial.First we had to check out our cameras, tripod, ad get our passes. Then we had to get our outfits ready and get our props. We all wore workout/gym clothes in order to create the feeling that we are athletes. Then we went to the track to start recording our commercial. While there we had to try ad find a position to record we needed a place with no people in view which created problems. This was because at the time students were running track and working out. We finally decided on an area where no people were in sight but occasionally people would run across which stopped us from recording. This later on became a problem when we discovered that our battery was low. On top of this we had a time limit this became a problem later on. This will come into play near the end of our recording session.
Then we started recording for most of the scenes I was not included. So for the meantime I directed and tried to help with camera positioning and give ideas on what would help more. This role ended very quickly so I needed something to do. Luckily at the time my team didn't need and a group of friends who needed my assistance came for me. They asked me to catch a ball but as un-athletic as I was they asked me. I kindly accepted which would later on help us out in the long run. It took some time since I couldn't catch a ball but luckily I got back just in time for my part. We had to stretch as if the race was to begin. I got into position but it did take multiple takes but we finally did it. My next was our race seen we got the beginning done quickly but our camera died stopping us from recording anymore.
Lucky for us the team that I had just finished their commercial. I kindly asked if we could use their battery for our project. They kindly agreed and we could keep recording. Our next scene was the end of the race I suggested we started running where we left off in order to make it consistent but with our time limit we couldn't. This may create problems during editing but it was the est we could do with how unlucky we were with the camera. We finished the scene where my friend passes the finish line and wins the race. I also forgot to mention after shooting the first scene we did the last scene where the protagonist was handed a Gatorade takes a sip and slams it on the ground creating little splashes on the track floor for effect This was the end of our recording we returned the camera back to the kind team and went to go dump. Dumping is another word for importing our video onto our computer to save it for editing later. I dumped our footage while my teammates signed back in the cameras. This then ended our first recording session for 10th grade year.

Gatorade Commercial Storyboard

We started brainstorming our storyboard today in class. We have an idea of what we want to do for a Gatorade commercial including 3 racers and a coach. We might also incorporate some background fans cheering. We spent a while planning the idea and have created a good film plan. At the beginning we will have a shot behind our protagonist walking up to the starting blocks. We are thinking about having a voice over explain how he is washed up. The next thing we will do is tilt up to above his shoulder. This will show the other racers stretching. I think it well help show the importance of this race to the protagonist. The other racers will be wearing racing clothing so the audience can understand. The next scene will be a flash pan to the protagonist on the starting blocks in the foreground of the wide shot. We will have the other racers be unfocused in the shot to capture the protagonists emotion. We will have the race start and our protagonist lag behind. We will then have a close up of our protagonist sweating and looking serious. After that it zooms back out and he barely wins the race after pulling ahead. This will help the audience feel an emotion and be invested in the commercial. Next we will have a medium shot of the Protagonist given a medal and a Gatorade by his coach. There will be people cheering for him. The final shot will be the Protagonist slamming down the Gatorade after taking a drink and the camera closing up on the drink. In the background will be people cheering.

Editing Blog

Camera and Attachments

Today we learned about our cameras and the things that come with them. If the camera is to die in order to charge it you must ensure that the camera is closed and that you plugged h the charger in correctly. We also learned why the more takes you have the better your shots will be in the end.SD cards are used to hold our film the SD card is inserted in the side of he camera and later on I’ll explain to you how to import information. Along with the camera there’s the tripod is used to hold the camera still but can also be used to turn the camera. With this you can perform pans by tilting it left to right or tilts by tilting it up or down. If you want to put the camera on the tripod you have to first take the plate off the tripod. Then screw the piece on to the camera until you hear a click. After you hear the click you need to tighten it by turning the circle to the right. Then put it back on the correct way and have the camera facing away from you if behind it. If you wish to remove then do the opposite of these actions.

Editing

Our editing software is Pinnacle Studios. In order to start the process of editing first you must open Pinnacle Studios. When opened it may take time to load just wait but when it loads you’ll be at the main editing screen. This is where most of the magic happens. In order to put videos in the track/timeline drag and drop them. AVT 1 or Track one is used for titles and words Track 2 is used for the actual video and Track 3 is used for sound and audio. I’n order to cut a clip click on where you want to split the film and then click on the razor blade icon above this will split the clip. With the clip split you can now do as you please with certain parts of the clip.In order to add effects right click on the clip which will then allow you to select from a wide variety of transitions. But if you want to go deeper you can click on special effects edited which will allow you to edit better. To fade go to standard and chose fade. You can even change the speed of said clip.To add title click on the T icon and that will allow you to add text and edit color. And if your editing software ever crashes it auto saves but what may happen is that whatever your doing may not be saved.

Import and Export

In order to Import go to your SD card and look at DCIM folder which has the footage ordered by date and time. Once you find the folder click and there will be your footage. If you don’t find your footage then go to Private. There you will see a set of folders click on AVCHD. This will then lead you through a set of folders. At the end you will find all the footage recorded on that SD card. You will then have to sift through to find yours. To export click export and then make sure it’s saved as an MP4 and full side in order to make sure it’s best quality and a video. Now it must render which is where is minimized the film and makes it smooth. Then minimize Pinnacle and then go to the folder you saved it in and check if the film is smooth. If not then export again. This is all I learned

Planning Blog for Gatorade Commercial

Today commences our planning my group consisting of Kyle.W, Sean.M, Jake.N, and me Timothy.B. We've already went over what makes a Gatorade Commercial these are athletic topics/ background images that features Gatorade merchandise or a Gatorade. They are normally serious. Right now our current idea is for us to have the track as our setting with a race taking place. My friends Sean will be the protagonist. Its very simple he will be running in a race against me and Kyle he will start losing speed and losing but then by a miracle he picks up speed and loses the race. The coach comes over and hands him a Gatorade a close up of him drinking as he takes on large Gulp. He finishes the Gatorade and slams it down as he slams it down drips of Gatorade fall on the table as you see him blurred out celebrating and more focus on the Gatorade. Here are the things well need.
  1. Props-Lime Gatorade Bottle (Normal Size), Water (For Sweat), Whistle, Medal.
  2. Costumes- Sweat Bands, Track like Clothing, Running Shoes, Coach Clothing
  3. Schedule-Schedule: On October 19 we will storyboard. On October 21st we will film our commercial from the rubric of the storyboard and get multiple scenes of everything we need. On October 23rd we will edit the commercial in class and add our overlays such as pictures and FX. On October 25th we will be done with our commercials and submit them for a grade.
  4. Location- School Track and Bleachers
  5. Backup Plan-Actor buys Gatorade from school vending machine then proceeds to go work in the weight room or media center stairs, and slams the Gatorade down after taking a drink as hes sweaty from working.

Research Blog for Gatorade Commercial

My group decided to pick Gatorade. My group choose Gatorade since we saw a lot of potential in what we can do. Gatorade is a popular and common sports drink that can be found at most convenience stores. Most Gatorade commercials involve sports or athletic themes. They try to prove that Gatorade is a great sports drink and possibly the greatest. For example Gatorade commercial The secret to Victory revolves around popular athletes talking about how they achieved there goals and the hardships they went through. They say this while drinking Gatorade and wearing Gatorade merchandise this used to inspire people and show how they rise up. Gatorade is everywhere since while they play after they have succeed in life they drink Gatorade as it helps them through the game just as they helped themselves through failure. Another Gatorade commercial I researched is Hard Work this commercial shows clips from sports players training in order to do their best.I think the lack of Gatorade here is to appeal to people who play sports like players and coaches since sports teams make it so Gatorade is in high demand. So from our research we now know the gist of a Gatorade commercial. Now We know that Gatorade commercials involve famous people which we cant replicate and cover a sports related theme such as racing, or football. They also have a very serious tone and cover a topic that can touch someone just as that commercial did using failure to show victory hence the name The Secret to Victory. Now that iv'e picked out what makes Gatorade video I can now successfully create my own.

Introductory

My name is Timothy and i am a sophomore in Fort Lauderdale High School. I'm 14 years old and my birthday is tomorrow October 8th. I was born in Lauderdale lakes where I was loved and cared for by my loving Father Timothy Brown and my caring mother Sabrena Blades. We lived in a house of 6 this number slowly went down as my family slowly grew apart. Ill talk more about this topic later. I was allowed in school a bit early since I came from a christian private school where I worshiped our lord and was properly educated. At this age I slowly grew an affinity for gaming which slowly grew into a hobby for me. When I was in elementary school I was an A B student my grades were phenomenal but still I was a problem child for talking to much this problem continued until middle school.
The time I spent in middle school was miserable. Because of my mother, every day she nagged my teacher about my grades. Near this time my grades started dropping this was due to me doing great on the homework in which I did not cheat and then failing the test. It got to the point where Id carry an A trough out the entire quarter and then failing a test which caused me to have a C. I then was brought to many tutors where they couldn't discover what was wrong. Still until now this problem inst solved. During this time gaming became a hobby I always played games. I owned a wii wii U and Ps4 in which I played a ton of games. Playing games was my specialty I play all types shooters puzzles RPgs I really loved games. Its what i exceed at.Along with gaming my house felt larger more and more people left first my sister since she had her first child and my dad with the divorce. my brother also left but it was short lived since he returned after him and his wife had a bit of a fallout.
Around this time I started attending FLHS this is now my current high school. Last year was pretty eventful with me getting a large amount of credits done and getting better at math. I took Debate which was a fun class I was decent at it and got to spend a lot times with my friends. I also took TV Production which taught me a lot about handling a camera and editing I attended this class with a friend of mine Kyle. Along with this I took basic classes but with me being ahead in math i was allowed to take algebra 2 which allowed me to get ahead in class. In this class I out shined my classmates as long as it didn't come to testing. I went to one tutor at this time who also couldn't find what was wrong with me with me failing test but answering all her questions perfectly i was strange. Now i'm a sophomore I now have A's in all my classes and i'm an exceptional student I love this school and love my life.
